Not Worthy of the Name 'Rollercoaster Tycoon'
It's been quite a while since a new installment of one of my favorite PC franchises, Rollercoaster Tycoon, has been released. Now, eight years later, a new installment finally appears, but this time on the Nintendo 3DS. Does the series manage to be as addictive on the small Nintendo handheld?
To immediately answer that question: no. The main reason for this is that there is a limit on everything, absolutely everything, making it impossible to even build a large amusement park. What is fun about the Nintendo 3DS installment, however, is testing your own roller coasters, and in 3D! Unfortunately, this is just a band-aid on the wound, leaving a bad taste when thinking about Rollercoaster Tycoon 3D. What a waste of the franchise...

Expert Reviews
IGN gave the game a mixed review stating, "Rollercoaster Tycoon 3D fails to capture the magic of its predecessors but offers a decent experience for newcomers." GameSpot called the game "a missed opportunity," noting it lacked the depth of the original PC versions. Nevertheless, some reviewers found it to be a fun, accessible way to bring the Rollercoaster Tycoon experience to a portable platform. Bleh, not the best reviews, but still enjoyable for on-the-go gaming!
