Cute, Original RPG Yo-kai Watch is the first in a new series of RPG games for the 3DS. In the game, your character receives a watch that allows him to see so-called Yo-kai that cause various problems in his village. This village is beautifully designed and has a typical Japanese look and feel.
One of the key aspects of an RPG is, of course, the battle system, and it does not disappoint. You choose six Yo-kai to fight for you, and you can switch them in groups of three during battle. To perform special attacks, you have to play a small mini-game on the touchscreen. However, these can get boring after a few hours because you end up doing the same thing repeatedly.
The real focus of this game, however, lies in collecting all the Yo-kai in the village. You do this by completing various quests and by searching for them because they are scattered throughout the entire village. The quests in this game are truly fantastic. There's usually a funny story attached to them, and sometimes you really have to think. The only downside I can mention is that the game does not have a Dutch language option, which would make it ideal for younger children. However, if you are proficient in English, this is a solid recommendation. Cijfer:

Catch and befriend Yo-Kai spirits to solve mysterious problems in your town Yo-kai Watch is a JRPG (Japanese role-playing game) that shares similarities with Pokémon in concept, yet has its own unique feel.
The main character finds himself in a mysterious forest where he encounters a vending machine. By inserting a coin into the machine, he meets his first Yo-Kai. This Yo-Kai gives him a watch that allows him to see and communicate with Yo-Kai. I found this to be a very enjoyable and unique way to start the adventure. Yo-Kai are invisible spirits resembling monsters that cause unrest in the outside world. The goal of the game is to collect Yo-Kai with your Yo-Kai watch to progress through the storyline and defeat villains. Read more...
The world has a genuine Japanese vibe, is quite vast, and largely accessible from the beginning of the game, allowing you to start capturing Yo-Kai right away. I appreciate the game's ability to create a beautiful atmosphere with its colorful and detailed environments. However, the battles are passive since attacks happen automatically, and your Yo-Kai cannot learn new moves. This aspect was occasionally frustrating for me as it lacks the strategic depth I'm accustomed to from other RPGs.
Nevertheless, you can upgrade attacks to make them stronger, providing some degree of control over your team's development. Yo-Kai Watch offers a unique experience with its charming characters and a world that is enjoyable to explore. In my opinion, it's a fun game that is particularly suitable for younger players or those seeking a more relaxed RPG experience. Hide. Cijfer:

Much more fun than expected! I purchased this game on someone else's recommendation, and it certainly does not disappoint! Yo-kai Watch is a very enjoyable and quite innovative RPG. Often, a funny twist is added to certain quests or characters.
The Yo-kai have a fun design, and the concept of searching for these invisible creatures with your Yo-kai Watch is an entertaining one. One of the goals in the game is to become friends with all the Yo-kai. There are a whopping 223 of them. There are also 22 bosses, but you can't befriend them.
The battle system is also very enjoyable. The Yo-kai fight even without your help, but you'll find that you still need to lend a hand. You battle with 6 Yo-kai that you can choose yourself. They are on a wheel that you can spin during the fight because only 3 Yo-kai can fight at a time. You can also have them perform special attacks, for example, by playing a short mini-game.
The more you fight, the stronger your Yo-kai will become due to the leveling system. There is also a series based on this game. I've only seen the first few episodes, but there were many elements from the series incorporated into the game as well.
I would definitely recommend giving it a try; you might be pleasantly surprised, just like I was. Cijfer:

Yo-kai Watch is a fantastic game series, but don't feel obligated to play the first one Yo-kai Watch (Yo-kai Watch 1) is the first game in the series of my favorite game series on the 3DS. It lays the foundation for the amazing games that follow, but that does create one problem: you'll essentially play this game twice if you also plan on playing Bony Spirits/Fleshy Souls and Psychic Specters. The intro for both games is exactly the same. However, you'll quickly realize that these games are worth it. You'll enter an amazing world where you can do anything you want: learn more about the lore of the world, collect all the characters like in Pokémon, or defeat the final boss as quickly as possible. It's all possible! Just don't feel obligated to play this game; if you skip straight to Yo-kai Watch 2 or Psychic Specters, your experience will likely be just as good. Cijfer:

Tips and secrets, cheats and codes
2 tips: 2 SecretsSecrets: What is the relationship between Yo-Kai Watch and Japanese mythology? Bas | | 1480 |
Did you know that Yokai are the spirits/monsters in Japanese mythology? They range from malevolent, mischievous tricksters to beings that bring fortune and luck to those who encounter them. Their appearances vary from animalistic to human-like, and even to bizarre forms that are inexplicable. You can see this reflected in the Yo-kai Watch series! Secrets: How can I improve my chances in Terror Time? DeToms | | 30 |
Terror Time is a sort of mini-game that automatically starts from time to time while you're wandering around in Springdale. You need to be outside, and it can't happen in Mount Wildwood.
It triggers automatically, but there are a few things you can do to increase the chances of Terror Time activating, namely:
- Being outside at night
- Changing the clock on your 3DS when you start the game. When you change the 3DS clock, you'll first see Gargaros when you start the game, and he will tell you not to change the 3DS clock. (Aside from increasing the chances of Terror Time, it has no further effects in Yo-kai Watch)
- Running a red light
When you're in Terror Time, you'll encounter a lot of smaller Yo-Kai along with Gargaros, Ogralus, and Orcanos.
If the smaller Yo-Kai spot you, they will inform one of the three oni and come after you. If one of them touches you, you'll end up in a super tough battle and are very likely to lose. If you lose, you'll wake up in your own bed. So, you need to escape through a door that opens somewhere on the map. There are also plenty of chests containing valuable items. But be careful, because if you're defeated by one of the oni, you'll lose the items you've collected during Terror Time.
If you manage to defeat Gargaros, there's a chance that Ogralus will appear, and if you defeat Ogralus, there's a chance that Orcanos will show up. Orcanos is the toughest boss in the game, but if you manage to beat him, there's a chance he will drop a Holy Blade. This item can be fused with Chansin to obtain Gleam, which is a powerful S-rank Yo-Kai.
